Workforce Development

The labor force continues to suffer from high rates of unemployment, too many workers face job insecurity and many workers earn wages that leave their families beneath or near the poverty line. The Kingdom addresses this issue in two ways. First, the Kingdom funds workforce and placement programs meeting specific criteria including developing the capacity of individuals while improving profitability of the businesses in which they work, provide workers in businesses that may close or leave the region, and help people whose employment would likely result in savings to other social systems such as law enforcement, health care or public benefits.  Secondly, the Kingdom funds nonprofits working to secure fair earnings for working people, fight discrimination in the workplace and reduce non­compliance with wage-­hour laws. To the extent possible, funded projects will work collaboratively with employers.
